Care Instructions:
Pad:
We recommend using a felt rug pad, which will keep your rug from slipping and will help decrease wear down.
Spills:
Just like a wool sweater, it is best to immediately blot spills with a clean, dry cloth; never scrub with a brush. As needed, spot clean areas with mild dish soap and cold water. Never use harsh chemicals. We recommend using a non-commercial professional (done by hand) cleaning service for larger spills or spills that have set into the pile.
General cleaning:
Vacuum your rug regularly, avoiding the fringes.
Vacuum the back once in a while as well.
Use a brush-setting that won't pull on fibers.
Should you have any loose threads, don't pull on them. Instead, if possible, pull them back through to the back and make a tight knot.
Scent:
Your rug is handmade from natural fibers, and some rugs have a scent from the lanolin in the wool. Typically, the smell will lessen over days or weeks as your rug is unrolled and settles in your space.
Sunlight:
Direct sunlight can affect the coloring of natural fibers over time, so we recommend you rotate your rug a few times a year. This rotation will help to even out colors and keep the wear evened out.
Storage:
When not in use, we recommend you roll (not fold) your rug and wrap it in a clean cloth, such as a sheet. Moths are naturally attracted to wool, so be sure your rug is clean before storage.
