No. MC0185
Persian, antique Khamseh, c. 1920
Wool, medium pile, floppy handle
5’6x7’5
Characterized by their heavy bird motif, this Khamseh offers a lovely pattern of truly tribal design. It’s been theorized that the birds in the Khamseh design represent a style of tribal art with mythological roots dating far back into Iran’s history. It’s not know exactly what the birds mean, but the fact that they are repeated in pattern shows it’s significance. The relaxed & improvisational approach of this rug shows its nomadic roots. Classic with most Persian rugs, this Khamseh offers three medallions in an attractive color palette & geometric design. Beautiful color palette in rich jewel tones of pomegranate, teal green, espresso, hints of the setting sun, & neutral wool. A durable rug with a hints of whimsy in our Western view, a great rug for a child’s room or any other small to medium sized room.
